About

My day job (and evenings and weekends job) is Professor of Chemistry at the University of Minnesota, where I have been since 1986. I've enjoyed teaching literally thousands of General and Physical Chemistry students over this time. With my graduate students, I also research aspects of molecular structure, intermolecular forces, and atmospheric chemistry. This work continues today and, if you're interested, you can learn more about it at my group website. To the right is a photo of me, standing near the microwave spectrometer that we use to do our experiments.

That said, I've also been at the piano since age seven. I started writing my own music about ten years ago, and that has led to the compositions on this website. Recordings can be found both here and on my YouTube channel, but you need to be on this site to also get the scores. I'm making them available free of charge because my main goal is to get the works played and heard. Any of these pieces should provide some new, alternative repertoire for piano students or performers. They are of varying difficulty, ranging from fairly easy to rather challenging. More information can be found on the page titled For Piano Teachers.

Finally, if you're so inclined, you can hear an interview with me on Classical Minnesota Public Radio in which I talk about aspects of teaching, scientific research, and music.
